Just in time for the holidays, SouthShore Charter Academy welcomed back Staff Sergeant Alejandro Rivas, who returned from deployment with the Air Force on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018.  Rivas, who returned to his position as middle school physical education (PE) teacher and coach, was deployed overseas for 180 days. Students and staff created welcome signs leading into the school and banners around the field to welcome him back. The celebration continued throughout the day with a series of events designed to let him know how much the students and staff missed him. “We are so grateful to Coach Rivas for his service and wanted to involve our students in a celebration of his safe return,” said Dawn Lamb, interim principal at SouthShore Charter Academy.
