TC Howe senior guard Harris Brown knew the biggest game of his life was about to unfold.
Countless of hours practicing, sweating and building grit climaxed on Monday night as he and his team, the TC Howe Hornets, were five seconds away from clinching their first City tournament championship since 1987.
“I knew I had to be a leader out there,” said Brown, who had scored 35 points that night. “I had to be the one that was focused and didn’t have my head down no matter what.”
With the final horn, history repeated itself as the TC Howe basketball team celebrated their second City title with a 75-72 win over Scecina in the final of the Indianapolis City Boys Basketball Tournament.
“This is big for our program,” said TC Howe basketball coach Mosi Barnes. “It’s a big moment for us. It’s unbelievable. It’s surreal. We put a lot of work into this and it’s no coincidence that it happened. We’re grateful to be in this moment.”
“We’re going to take this moment, have more confidence and try to improve on the areas where we’re lacking.”
