Renaissance Charter School at Westyn Bay Changes Name to Crown Point

Governing board responds to city officials’ requests

OCOEE, Fla. (March 21, 2016) – Following Ocoee City Council’s approval of the site location for a new school in Ocoee, an important change took place. The name of the school changed from Renaissance Charter School at Westyn Bay to Renaissance Charter School at Crown Point. The decision to change came after a request from city officials and some citizens residing in Westyn Bay.

“Our goal is to provide a high performing school for the community and we decided that it would be best to have the community behind us all the way,” said Ken Haiko, chairman of Renaissance Charter School, Inc., the school’s governing board. “We’ve had so much positive support and wanted to be a good neighbor and demonstrate our willingness to work through reasonable requests.”

The school will still be located at 237 West Road in Ocoee and the transition to the new name is expected to be seamless for those who have already expressed interest.

“Our enrollment is now open, so parents can easily apply online,” added Haiko. “We are expecting great demand for this school based on our pre-enrollment data.”

Parents can apply online at www.CrownPointCharter.org.
